Concrete, specific language with a focus on plot and dialogue

Ernest Hemingway (1899–1961) was known for his distinctive writing style. He was one of the most successful and popular American writers of the 20th century. One of his most famous works is the novel “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” published in 1940. The “simple” sentence constellations, the concrete and specific language, the pointed expressiveness and the apt focus on action and dialogue are unmistakable.
