In today’s hectic world, the ability to stay calm while surrounded by chaos or “in the midst of the storm” is highly valuable.

Those who possess such an ability are often resilient enough to be able to “plough on” or “stick to their guns” in a situation where it might be tempting to give up or “throw in the towel”.

In order to persist with something and achieve success, different approaches can be taken. While there can be value in following conventional or “well-trodden” paths and “doing things by the book”, certain situations might call for a more creative approach.

If you’ve ever had the inclination during a conversation that the other person is talking about something which is completely irrelevant to the topic “at hand”, then you can point that out by describing that something as “a horse of a different colour” or “a different kettle of fish”.
